چکیده
Pultrusion is a rapid and cost-effective manufacturing technology for continuous fibre reinforced thermoplastic composite profiles. As the cross-sections of pultruded profiles grow to meet increasing performance requirements, challenges concerning heat transfer are encountered. In this study, two-dimensional finite element model was used simulate fluid flow physics pultrusion process diameters from Ø 5–Ø 40 mm. To facilitate experimental validation, novel batch-wise concept introduced in which impregnation observed in-situ using transparent die. The studies, conducted on glass-fibre/amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) commingled yarns, show that – with proper design able deliver consistent, high quality (void content < 2%) up at least

متن کاملCommingled Yarn Spinning for Thermoplastic/Glass Fiber Composites
Online commingled yarns were spun with three different polymeric matrices, namely polypropylene (PP), polyamide (PA) and polylactic acid (PLA) and glass fibers. Tailored sizings were applied for the three matrices and the resulting mechanical performance of unidirectional composites was evaluated and compared. Significant improvements in the fiber/matrix bonding were achieved by employed sizing...

Physical, mechanical and antimicrobial properties of nylon 6 (polycaprolactam) doped with different amounts of silver nanoparticles were investigated in this study. Two series of filament yarns counts (20 and 70 Denier) were produced by melt spinning method with different amounts of silver nanoparticles contents (0, 0.5, 1 and 4 wt%). Elemental analysis of silver and titanium dioxide (present i...
متن کاملCommingled CF/PEEK Hybrid Yarns for Use in Textile Reinforced High Performance Rotors
Owing to a higher melt viscosity compared to the thermoset plastics the impregnation of the textile reinforcement structure with a thermoplastic matrix is significantly difficult. Commingled hybrid yarns produced on the basis of air-jet texturing technique have the potential for a homogeneous distribution of reinforcement and matrix filaments over the yarn cross section. The so achieved very sh...
